Busy busy!

Jasper will be 11 months old this Saturday. I think he has learned and started doing so much in his 10th month. He stands on his own pretty well, walks holding onto only one hand - he is really close to taking his first steps. He has done a step on his own while lunging towards Darrell's or my arms but not official first steps.

His first word is "duck." He babbles and says all kinds of stuff but this is the first word that he definitely associates with the meaning! He has ducks in the bathtub as well as in a lot of books. We wondered for a while if he was really saying this....then a few weeks ago he crawled across the floor, picked up a felt duck from a book, and said "Duck!" I've tested it a lot since then...handing him a duck, then a car, a penguin, a duck, etc....He'll say duck for duck and then babble for the other objects. So we're officially saying his first word is Duck! How funny!

Wonderful visitors have kept us busy through the end of January and into February. We had a road trip reunion (you know, THE road trip in '99) one Saturday and then had a girls & kids playdate on Tuesday. Thanks to Naomi for the brilliant idea of getting a babysitter so we could actually talk together! We tried to get a picture of all the kids on the sofa. Jasper is such a wiggle worm he obviously would not sit still. Naomi has some better pics on her website!

Aunt Christy came to visit before her UGA interview - she got the job!! Woo hoo!! Then Aunt Liz visited over last weekend and I will have to get some pictures from her camera.
