Merry Christmas!

Baxter & Jasper 2009
The Santa at the outlet mall is a different Santa this year...I was hoping to get great pictures with the same Santa each year, especially because the past two years were sooo very cute (see below). But now with 2 kids the best picture is the one where they are both looking at the camera, even if Baxter is sticking his tongue out. Can't ask for much more than that these days!

MMO Program

Jasper's mother's morning out/preschool had a Christmas program this past Thursday night. The toddler and two-year-old classes performed three songs, Jingle Bells, Where is Baby Jesus, and one other one I can't remember. I wasn't sure how Jasper would react to standing on stage in our new big sanctuary - if he'd even stay up there, not say a word, etc?? Jasper was happy to be on stage though he did not stay still at all. Of course chaos is a good word to describe their performance and Jasper did his part to contribute by running all over the stage. Here is a funny clip - Jasper is top left:

After their performance, the preschool director said (in reference to the last song "Where is Baby Jesus?"), "Jasper sure was looking hard for baby Jesus!" ha ha. He was REALLY running all over the stage by the end. I think if there had been water in the baptismal fount he would have been splashing around. Too funny! On another note the three-year-olds stood perfectly still for their performance - what a world of difference a year will make! We didn't even stay for the Pre-K class skit & songs.

December 2009

Baxter turned six months old on Nov 28. He is such a sweet, happy, chubby baby. Here he is in all his chunky glory:
Baxter at six months: 24 lbs 4 oz and 27.5 inches long. Breastmilk only. I've been reminded recently that's quite an amazing accomplishment.

I started him on some solid food on December 1. So far he has eaten rice cereal, avocado, sweet potato, and banana.
He wore a Clemson bib for his first meal :) I might have used Baby's First Christmas but I can't get it snapped around his thick neck. I have to lift up his chin(s) in order to get a bib around his neck without choking him. A lot of our bibs are too small!

Here are some more recent photos! Enjoy and merry Christmas!

October 2009

Hello! We had a nice October. Gorgeous weather. Fun gold rush party - thanks to Donna and others who blog regularly AND took pictures at Gold Rush :). We played the annual poker tournament and it got down to me and Darrell (yes, the trophy is at our house!). Daniel is going to come over and be the dealer whenever we get around to finishing the game...hopefully soon!

We did nothing for Halloween. I dressed Baxter in Mickey Mouse and took some pictures! Jasper was not interested in Super Why or Spiderman, both good choices I thought. He was not the least bit interested in dressing up. So I went grocery shopping. Saturday night at Kroger - definitely an awesome time to hit the store!
Baxter is doing great. He is oh so cute. He does smile and laugh quite a bit but it is hard to catch on camera. Plus he really is the most non-photogenic baby ever. I have plenty of terrible pictures to prove it. For his sake, I try to post only the good and half-decent ones. He is still a gigantic baby (see picture above - I admit although he's smiling it really is not the most flattering picture!). Below is a 5 month picture, wow!
Jasper says, "when I was a wittle baby I would sleep in this cwib."
Jasper told me he spelled apple - I was pretty impressed! He loves letters and words. Other than spelling his name, other favorites are go, stop, open, baxter, help, and bake.
The next few pics are from playing at Bethany's house.
This is the third year I've gone to Burt's in NOVEMBER to take pictures. As you can see, if you go on a weekday in November you'll have the place to yourself! And also as you can see and probably know, taking pictures of kids is almost downright impossible. Note the pictures where ALL the kids have their backs turned! I took a ton of pictures - here are some of the good ones and funny ones.
In trying to get a picture of Jasper & Baxter...most consisted of Jasper running around and Baxter watching.

October News

Baxter at Four Months
I tried to take a picture of Jasper every month for his first year in the same place - on the chair or sofa. Well, around 7 months when he was really moving, I realized that plan wasn't the best - sitting him on an elevated surface then backing up to take a picture. My friend Ginger used a car seat to take a picture of her son every month and I thought it was a great idea! But I had to pull the car seat back out to do the 4 month photo and am not sure if I"ll even keep this car seat around til 12 months...I've been giving away baby stuff. Like back in June when Baxter was 2 or 3 weeks old I gave away all the newborn and 0-3 month size clothes since he outgrew them. Now I have 2 boppy's, a car seat with extra base, bouncy seat....just taking up room in our small house...although I don't desire to have more kids it sure seems to make it very final once I give away this stuff! Hmmm, not sure why I'm holding onto it other than to just hold onto it for just a little bit longer. Baxter is such a fun age now and getting so much easier. If I could skip 9 months of pregnancy and the first three months of babyhood I might have more. I even love the childbirth part of it. I remember after having Jasper I thought, I'd rather go through labor & delivery 9 times before I'm pregnant again for 9 months. Fortunately, Baxter's pregnancy was a bit better :) Anybody need some baby gear that is in excellent condition?

Reading books
Another pretty box of produce :)

Progress on side yard - just rye grass for the winter but it looks good!
