March 12th - More Photos!

Hello! I think I will be sporadically updating photos on the blog over the next few days and weeks. Then I intend on getting into a routine of updating the blog about once a week, like on Tuesdays or something. Anyway, the word routine...yeah, I think that's a little ways off. So for now...here are some more photos and info.

His name:
Jasper (place in Canada)
Daniel (it was my grandfather's first name)

We are calling him Jasper. That was the favorite part of our trip last summer - in Jasper National Park, Alberta, Canada. I had no idea I was pregnant but I was starting to get suspicious. It was also the only part of our 5 week vacation that I was not throwing up. So we have great memories of Jasper. After our first favorite hikes in the Canadian Rockies, we did an amazing 3 day backpacking trip on the Skyline Trail and I remember thinking the whole time, I bet I'm pregnant. We spent Canada Day in the town of Jasper; it was awesome. I didn't tell Darrell I thought I was pregnant until days later; we were down in Banff N.P. near Lake Louise, I think, when I first told him my thoughts. Then it was a few more days until I finally took a pregnancy test - let's just say it took a while for me to process the possibility of pregnancy! God works wonders and now, what perfect timing!

Jasper, not quite 30 minutes old, before his first bath

The hospital gave us a proud parent steak dinner on Saturday night! They carried this table into our room and took Jasper for us while we ate!

Aunt Liz came from Charleston to meet Jasper

Getting ready to come home from the hospital (the blue outfit I bought at target last Thursday - the pants & jacket were HUGE but the onesie fit okay and it had blue in it!)

Getting ready to leave the hospital - it was the first time we stuck a pacifier in his mouth; we decided we didn't want to be leaving the hospital with him screaming. But he didn't keep it in his mouth and he didn't scream at all. I put some green booties on him that were like boats on his feet. Jasper's first outing on the way home: the Zaxby's drive through. He slept.

Jasper is so cute!! Joni, I think he looks like you. Ya know, for the little town of Dahlonega, they sure know how to treat new parents to a nice dinner, that's impressive!! Glad ya'll are home and everyone is doing good.

Darrell & Joni,

Congratulations! Jasper is adorable, and from talking with "Grandmother Jennifer," I know that he is "training" both of you well so that you jump and meet his every need. Exactly what all newborn babies are experts at doing--training parents.

I loved the story of how you chose his name, and I pray God's blessings for him as he grows and continues to train the two of you as he does have quite a lot of work ahead of him. I also pray God's strength and energy for the two of you in these first three months of his life. Y'all are doing great work together as parents, and Jasper is God's child and blessed to be in your care.

Hope to see him in person one day. Remember--sleep when Jasper sleeps so that you can jump when he says jump..."ain't it fun?"

Love and prayers for you and Jasper.
