A Big Jasper Update

Playing on his swing set! We have not spent much time outside lately unless we are playing with the water hose. I don't think we have gone on a walk in the stroller in at least a month. It is just so so hot & humid right now. But we have played outside maybe twice this past week - he does love playing on his swing set (while I watch numerous yellow jackets swarming on the ground and try to figure out where they are coming from).
Walking down the driveway
I have been trying to jot down words as Jasper learns them. He knows so many now I really can't keep up. Airplane is his first two syllable word. Lately he is obsessed with flags & clocks. When I came home the other day Darrell said, "Jasper found two flags in Where's my nose?"!! And D challenged me to find them - I flipped through the short board book and did not even see them. Jasper finds flags EVERYWHERE and loves to point them out and say flag! He does like hats, too.We ordered a potty chair and it arrived last Wed afternoon. That night Jasper peed in it. We absolutely flipped out; he was very excited, too!! What in the world? The next night Jasper sat on it (diaper still on though) and said 'poop' while he pooped in his diaper! He has peed in it a few times since - we've only been trying after bathtime. He has been so interested in the potty process for a while now. I know that disposable diapers are more absorbent than ever but I had always planned on starting before 2 years. So we will see how this goes - I don't have a plan for it but we're having fun with it so far. On Monday night though we really wanted Jasper to sit on his potty and he was determined to read his book. So....he just combined the two. (This is not a learned behavior, honest)
The garden is slowly growing...
Jasper loves books. It is adorable. He reads on his own for long periods of time.
I think this is the only picture of Amelia & Jasper both looking at the camera. You can see that I tried several times.
Jasper is an incredible eater (not that he had much of a choice in the matter) and it just makes us so happy. It is fruit & vegetable season and we are all just eating it up. Jasper loves blueberries while Darrell & I are drinking lots of strawberry smoothies. Below is dinner - steamed carrots, broccoli, squash, and zucchini. Carrots have been a long time favorite (and I keep hoping he has inherited D's perfect eyesight vs my blindness - and maybe the daily carrot will help?!) Jasper says berry for blueberry and broc for broccoli. And usually goes crazy signing 'more' in reference to either of those foods!
Jasper stays well hydrated - he has only had water in his sippy cup so that is all he knows. We do milk in a different sippy cup sometimes in the mornings and he is really good at just drinking out of a cup (a glass - only one has been broken) with OJ at breakfast. I figure the $10 set of glasses we got as a wedding gift five and half years ago are easily replaceable - however, I am not confident enough for Jasper to use our denby dishes. I'll keep using his plastic plates & bowls for now!

Oh, how I wish mine would eat vegetables like that! C and D only drink water too...I rarely hear of anyone else doing that!
Jasper loves hats? and he is oh-so-cute in them too!

Yay for being awesome, Jasper! I LOVE blueberries, too! We used to have blueberry bushes growing up, and that was how I first earned money when I was too young to have a job. I would pick them and sell them to a farmer's market. They also have soooo many antioxidant's in them and are great brain food!

Yes! Come visit and play the Wii!

Wow! He is growing up fast!

His swing set is adorable! What kind is it? We want to get one for Carli this fall (too hot right now).

So cute that he likes hats. Carli will wear a hat or a "bairbow" for ~5 seconds!

Carli sits on her potty with her diaper for long periods of time, especially while watching her Elmo potty DVD but is scared to sit on it without her diaper. I guess the time will come. I'm not pushing it since our 2nd baby is on the way and I don't want to deal with regression.

Carli also says too many words to keep up with. I love it! :-) She is a pretty good eater, more fruits and veggies than meats though.

Thanks for an awesome post!

Okay,
My heart so sad right now because Laney USED to eat like that. Seriously. She LOVED broccoli above every food. If she refused to eat beans, she NEVER refused to eat broccoli. She used to eat beans, carrots, corn, broccoli, squash, eggplant, brussel sprouts....etc.. and guess what. Corn is all she'll eat. Can you believe that? CORN!! Oh, I'm jsut wondering what in the world happened. Enjoy every moment of him eating veggies. I'm soo happy that he is eating well!! :) I hope he doesn't drift into this "stage" of pickiness.
