Jasper loves to read. I made it a point to read at least 5 books a day with him every day since he was born. It is so neat to see him reading on his own now. Here he is reading in the car as we drove down to my parents on Friday afternoon!
My parents met while working in Yellowstone National Park in 1971. Three other couples met, married, and have reunions every 5 years at the park. The couples from Colorado & California came to GA to visit. My parents also re-connected with another Yellowstone guy who lives in the Atlanta area. He worked at the gas station with my dad and Jerry in 1970 & 71 and Jerry hadn't seen him since 71! It is really neat that they have kept in touch. Below is Randy Smith, Becky & Jerry Palmer, Terry & Carol Barney, Susan & Jordan Shenefield.
Saturday in Gainesville with Aunt Liz, Grandie, and Grandpa. This picture captures how we spent our time - watching Jasper!
The front yard we-are-going-to-grow-grass project. Darrell has been working on a plan for the front yard but didn't expect for it to happen so quickly. We have been really blessed with friends to help out with some potentially expensive work. Darrell has taken out lots of trees, Daniel's cousin removed the stumps, and now Josh came over to do the grading. It looks so different without trees and woods but it will be so neat to have a big grassy area for the boys to play! That's the plan.
So that's what is going on with us.What's been going on with some of our friends....lots of babies! We have a new neighbor - Eli Tritt, born 8/28/08! They don't have pics on their blog yet but I am sure they will very soon!! We think it is really neat for Jasper to have a little playmate next door. Also, my friend Ginger (great, crazy birth story!) had her baby Cash on that same day. I anxiously received text messages and calls throughout the day knowing both Mary Catherine & Ginger were in labor! Jennifer Pope had a baby girl the week before and there have been a few others we've known about who have had babies late August - like Tara who had a 9.5 lb baby and then evacuated for Hurricane Gustav! Congrats on the baby boom!
One last REALLY neat thing is the little retreat our friends Jason & Elizabeth took their daughter Caroline on in order to create some teachable moments for her as she begins kindergarten. This is just so creative, loving, meaningful, and neat.

Okay...a few things I love:
Darrell's parent's pool!
Jasper reading Richard Scarry, whom I love.
Yard work being accomplished and the hope of grass to play on.
...and being featured on your blog! :)
Hold the phone. Was that Richard Scarry book around when we were kids? Because I feel like it was. And if it's the book I'm thinking of it was my most favorite book in all the world. I've got to go buy one for my hope chest. Wait, maybe I need to buy a hope chest first...
the yard looks great!
I absolutely love that picture of Jasper reading in his carseat, too cute. Also, loved the pics about your parents. I knew they met at Yellowstone, but I didn't know the whole story. That is so neat! Also, how do your parents look the same as they did when we were kids? Hope all is going well and enjoy keeping up with little Jasper on here!
Your yard will look beautiful come spring! Good job Darrell...way to mark off something HUGE on the honeydo list!!
Richard Scarey's books - favorites from when my children were little!! Spent many hours reading to Jodi, Josh and Autumn from one of them - brings back sweet memories!
