Projects and Playing

Along with owning a home comes a never ending list of wish list projects. Something we've talked about doing for at least 4 years is to clear some trees in the only flat part of our whole yard. Our house is on a steep lot and there is not much flat area except in the side yard which is heavily wooded. Most of the lots in our neighborhood are wooded with just forest trees which I prefer over no trees in the neighborhood - however, they are just scrubby forest trees and we FINALLY got the area cleared last week!!! Woo hoo!! Now, it is a mess but we are both so excited about it and I see so much potential for this area.
BEFORE
AFTERIt was about a 2 day project for a crew to clear the area then we had someone grind 25 stumps!! We have TONS of wood chips - fortunately we had use of a Bobcat to disperse the huge mound of wood chips from the front yard. The chips are in huge piles around the back yard mostly until we can get this area graded and spread the chips. For this area we have been thinking of shed, garden, and play area. We may just do grass for now and even leave the garden on the steep slope in the back yard. Not sure but lots of options!
Sandbox in temporary location - not in middle of woods anymore! We'll either put it back in the woods or move it and the swingset into the new area. And below, J is playing cars and trucks as always!
